At the present time, two of the IT skills most in demand are the abilities to program in Java and to work with databases, specifically large ones. These two skills confluent in JDBC (Java DataBase Connectivity), making knowledge in this area highly prized. It is also highly selective; when an organization is in the process of hiring people to work with JDBC the people responsible for the hiring are going to go to great lengths to make sure the new hires have a significant level of expertise in JDBC.
Having this goal in mind, the people interviewing potential hires are going to ask very specific and detailed questions about their knowledge of JDBC. While the contents of this book will not prepare you for all possible questions, a high percentage of the potential questions are covered, so any detailed examination of them will do a great deal to prepare you for the technical JDBC interview. Although the answers are generally short, the questions are very detailed, requiring thought and understanding of the subject matter. This is a very good way to brush up on your JDBC skills before being grilled as to the depth of your knowledge.
The second section of the book contains 51 general interview questions, such as "What is your greatest strength?" These questions are so common and well-known that they have appeared in many other publications, so they are not a differentiating factor of this one.
