Editorial Reviews

There was a lot I liked about GRE Analytical Writing: Solutions to the Real Essay Topics by Vibrant Publishers. I liked how there were specific examples of situations in literature and in life that could help a person understand an argument. Giving real life examples of how to understand the questions made the questions seem less imposing. I liked how there were writing prompts to give me an idea of some of the questions and answers I could work on writing. I also liked that the book explained how the essays are scored. This breakdown made it very easy for me to understand what areas I need to concentrate on in order to achieve the score that I want within this test. Finally, I liked that there were sample essays. This gave me a really great sense of what to expect. Now I know what a good essay looks like and have something to emulate. Excellent job!

We have been using the Analytical Writing books for our students for the last 3 years. I would highly recommend using these guides for all GRE aspirants. Example essays in the books give you a great understanding of the pattern, writing styles, and keywords which are essential to score well on the essay section. The author has done full justice by explaining each topic with pointers, strategies, and a sample essay. Students can go through essays, compile all points, create their own templates, and put them into the right frame to create fantastic essays

An Awesome Study Guide with Samples

This book is an excellent resource to help prepare for the GRE. The samples are well-written and relatable. I can envision high school and college students using this book as a study guide to sharpen his or her writing skills and vocabulary knowledge.

Best $20 I've Ever Spent

I bought this book late August of 2019 to help prepare me for my GRE that I ended up taking on November 3rd of 2019. At the time, I had just graduated from college in May and needed to take the analytical writing portion of the GRE to apply to my first choice program for grad school. Since I had already graduated, I was alone in a sense that I had no professors or writing center to help me prep for the written portion. I went in totally blind, except for this book.

I "studied" for the GRE by going through this whole book twice. The first time I wanted to just familiarize myself with the material such as what is expected from me and how to answer the essay prompts correctly. The second time I went through the book, I jotted down some notes alongside the essays. I was anxious about whether or not this study method was useful, but I figured that studying this book was better than nothing.

The day that I took my test I felt prepared. I finished the analytical portion first and I just knew that I got a good score. I would not see my score until maybe 1-2 weeks later. I got a 5.0. I successfully fulfilled requirements for the grad program and got accepted a few weeks ago, but I felt like me getting a 5.0 on the GRE was the cherry on top to my application. Because I got a good score, I will not have to take the mandatory supplemental writing test that the grad students have to take.

This book made it so easy for me to study while I had a full time job and other life obligations. I like that the essays are mostly great examples that illustrate the proper way to answer every part of the prompt. They cover a variety of topics that helps you hone in on a general range of facts that would be useful in your writer's toolbox to whip out to strengthen your essay. For example, the book mentioned that a writer should have general knowledge on a few different fields such as politics, science and the arts because any useful tidbit of knowledge or quote would work well as examples in the essays. There's also notes breaking down the process of multiple sides of an argument and how to elaborate on your side of the argument. This book prepared me far better than I thought it would and I am glad it did. If you need to study for the writing portion of the GRE, I highly suggest you purchase this book as a study tool.
